Search for articles

You can search for articles in the catalogue using the tool below, or, for a more comprehensive search, search your preferred database directly.

Articles are great for up-to-date information and research. They are shorter than books and written about very specific topics.

Articles are published in Journals. They may be published in print or online formats, or both.

How to identify a scholarly article

Also called "peer reviewed" articles.

  • References are listed at the end of the article citing sources the author used.
  • The author notes their professional degrees and institutional affiliation.
  • It is published in a Journal from a professional organization or association.

How to find scholarly articles

Most databases have the option of limiting your search to articles. This option may have a name such as “peer reviewed” or “scholarly journals.”

  • A scholarly journal is one authored by academics for a specific audience, generally published by an organization with academic goals and missions.
  • A peer-reviewed article goes through an official editorial process that includes review and approval by the author's peers in the same subject area.
