My Responsibilities

Before borrowing equipment, it is crucial to understand your responsibilities in ensuring its protection from loss and damage. You are accountable for returning the equipment in perfect working order. Please review the Design Technology Store Terms and Conditions for complete details.

  1. Eligibility
    • Only currently enrolled/active students or Torrens University staff members can borrow equipment.
    • Bookings should be made at least 24 hours in advance.
    • Valid student/staff ID must be presented when collecting equipment.
    • Competency may be required for items marked as "Experience Needed".
    • DTS reserves the right to deny loans that adversely affect in-class usage and student assessment usage, as well as loans to users with multiple suspensions or prior violations.
  2. Bookings
    • Upon taking possession, users must confirm that all components are accounted for and in working condition.
    • Users are responsible for ensuring equipment is returned undamaged and all pieces are accounted for.
    • Users must adhere to the service's opening and closing times and return items on the selected date/time.
    • Overdue items result in suspended booking privileges until all outstanding items are returned.
    • Consecutive online bookings for the same equipment are not allowed. Rebooking may be permitted after physically returning the equipment, depending on demand.
  3. Usage
    • Users must operate equipment in accordance with health and safety policies of Torrens University and their specific location.
    • Users must not attempt repair or modification of equipment.
    • Users should take reasonable precautions to protect equipment from loss, theft, and environmental conditions.
    • Any malfunctions or damage to the equipment must be reported to the DTS upon return.
    • In case of theft or loss, users must report to the police and provide a police report number within 5 working days of notifying the DTS.
