My Responsibilities

Before borrowing equipment, it is crucial to understand your responsibilities in ensuring its protection from loss and damage. You are accountable for returning the equipment in perfect working order. Please review the Design Technology Store Terms and Conditions for complete details.

Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility  

1.1 You are required to be a currently enrolled/active student at the same campus as the DTS you are using or a Torrens University staff member.  

1.2 We recommend all bookings should be placed at least 24 hours in advance.  

1.3 Users must present a valid student/staff ID when collecting equipment.  

1.4 For items marked as “Booking Restrictions Apply” you will need to demonstrate competency prior to approval.   

1.5 DTS has the discretion to deny a loan if it unduly impacts the ability of the DTS to support in-class usage and student assessment usage. For example, students or staff who use the equipment for personal or commercial projects unrelated to their current courses.   

1.6 DTS has the discretion to deny loans to users who have served multiple suspensions or have previously broken the terms and conditions of the service.   

2. Bookings 

2.1 By taking possession of the items, the user agrees that all components are accounted for and in working condition.   

2.2 Upon return, it is the user’s responsibility to confirm with the accepting staff member that the equipment has not been broken, damaged. It is also the responsibility of the user to ensure that all pieces are accounted for.  

2.3 You agree to observe the opening and closing times of the service and return all items at your selected date/time. 

2.4 If you allow the items to become overdue, your booking privileges will be suspended until all outstanding items are returned.    

2.5 To ensure that equipment is shared equitably, consecutive (back-to-back) online bookings are not permitted.  At the discretion of the DTS you may be able to re-book a piece of equipment after physically returning it, depending on the level of demand for that item.    

3. Usage 

3.1 You agree to operate equipment as per health and safety policies stipulated by Laureate, as well as those relevant to your location.  

3.2 You agree not to attempt repair or modification of any equipment.   

3.3 You agree to take all reasonable precautions to ensure the equipment is protected from loss, or theft, including storing the equipment in a secure place.   

3.4 You agree to take all reasonable precautions to protect the equipment from damage and exposure to environmental conditions such as dust, sand, water and extremes of temperature.   

3.5 You are required to report any equipment malfunctions or damage to the DTS on return. 

3.6 You are required to report any theft or loss of the equipment to the police as soon as possible.  You will be required to provide a police report number within 5 working days of notifying the DTS.
