Having trouble finding or opening an article? Try these quick steps to solve common issues and get to the full text faster.
Start in the right place
Always begin with the Library rather than Google. This ensures your Torrens login is recognised.
- Library Search – search across most Torrens databases.
- Databases list – go directly into subject‑specific collections like Scopus, ProQuest, CINAHL, etc.
Tip: If you Google an article and see a paywall, search the title in Library Search instead — we may already subscribe.
Search by article title
If you have the full citation (title, author, year):
- Paste the full article title in quotation marks into Library Search.
- If we have it, click “View online / Full text available.”
Note: Pasting a DOI or URL into Library Search often won’t work. Use the article title instead.
Use filters
Refine your results to make searching quicker and easier:
- Tick Peer‑reviewed
- Limit to the last 5 years (or another date range if required)
- Apply subject filters (e.g. Nursing, Business, Education)
Try Google Scholar (with Torrens Library links)
Google Scholar can be useful if you set it up to recognise Torrens Library.
- Go to Google Scholar
- In Settings > Library Links, search for “Torrens University” and tick the box
- Now you’ll see Full Text @ Torrens links where we have access
Check the journal directly
If article title search doesn’t work, search the journal title instead.
Still can’t find it?
- Double‑check the citation details — even a small typo can block results.
- If it’s a link in MyLearn, see: How to check the Reading List.
- Report problems here so we can help: Report a Broken Link.
