Key points
The Library is not purchasing new print at this time.
If using readings from a print book it is possible to scan a chapter to upload to Blackboard.
Documents scanned and uploaded to Blackboard must follow the Digitising Resources Guidelines to ensure they are accessible to students with print disabilities.
When using websites in your subject you will need to consider:
Do not use any images (photographs, drawings, illustrations from books, charts, etc.) without consideration of copyright, and always ensure all images are attributed (minimum URL of source attached, preferably full APA references provided). Stock photos should, at a minimum, have a small text box attached, e.g. Source: Shutterstock.
The Educational Statutory Licence allows Torrens University to copy and communicate images from both print and digital sources, for educational purposes, within BlackBoard. However, the University must be able to provide accurate recordkeeping of all copyright works used under the licence, for when the institution is regularly audited by the Copyright Agency.
For this reason, subject writers are strongly encouraged to use only images that are out of copyright (public domain), licensed under stock photo contracts, or Creative Commons, or similar terms of use that allow reproduction for educational use.
