Sony A7R III Setup Guide

Introduction

The Sony A7R Mark III features a 42.4MP full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor with an enhanced processing system. It supports a standard ISO range of 100-32000, expandable up to 102400, and offers a Fast Hybrid AF system with 399-point phase-detection and 425-point contrast-detection AF.

White Balance

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Camera 1 tab, then Color/WB/Img.Processing menu.
  • Select White Balance -> AWB or desired option and confirm.

ISO

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Camera 1 tab, then Exposure 1 tab.
  • Press the ISO button.
  • Select OK to confirm.

Image Quality

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Camera 1 tab, then Quality/Image Size 1 menu.
  • Select File Format -> RAW & JPEG and confirm.

Aperture

  • Set the mode dial to A to select aperture priority mode.
  • Use the front dial to select the desired aperture.

Metering

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Navigate to the Camera 1 then Exposure1 menu.
  • Select Metering Mode -> Multi or Spot: Standard to prioritize the center region.

Focus

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Camera 1 tab, then AF1 tab.
  • Select Focus Mode -> Single Shot AF.

Format Card

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Setup 5 menu.
  • Select Format, choose the slot, and confirm.

Exposure Comp

  • Turn the exposure compensation dial right-most top dial.
  • Adjust the value next to the indicator to the number of stops of compensation desired.
  • This value modifies the target exposure for the automated settings.
