Nikon D850 – Video Setup Guide

Introduction

The D850 has three resolutions and a range of frame rates, from 60 fps to 24 fps. Not all frame rates are available at all resolutions. The camera is equipped with advanced features for professional video recording, including a full-frame sensor and a rugged body design.

WB Colour Temp

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Movie shooting menu.
  • Select White Balance.
  • Select Auto or your desired option.

Frame Size / Rate

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Movie shooting menu.
  • Select Frame size / frame rate.
  • Select 1920x1080; 25p and press OK.

ISO Auto

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Movie shooting menu.
  • Select ISO sensitivity settings.
  • Select Auto ISO control (mode M) and press SET to confirm.

Manual Control

  • To adjust Aperture, use the Front dial.
  • Select your desired settings.
  • To adjust Shutter Speed, use the Back dial.
  • Select 1/50 as the shutter speed.

Mic Levels

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Movie shooting menu.
  • Select Microphone sensitivity.
  • Select Auto sensitivity or choose Manual Sensitivity for your desired option (e.g., 12db).

Manual Focus

  • Switch to manual focus by changing the AF/MF switch on the left side of the camera.
  • Rotate the focus ring on the lens to select your focal point.

Start Recording

  • Press the Mode button.
  • Set the Mode Dial to M by scrolling the back dial.
  • Select Movie mode on the rear switch located on the Live View button.
  • Press Live View / Movie Func. to start recording.

File Type

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Movie shooting menu.
  • Select Movie file type and choose between MOV and MP4.
