Canon 5D Mark IV Video Setup Guide

Introduction

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV can shoot DCI 4K videos at up to 30 fps and extract 8.8MP JPEG images from 4K videos.

White Balance

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Shoot 2 tab.
  • Select White Balance.
  • Touch the screen to choose AWB or your preferred option.
  • Press SET to confirm.

Resolution

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Shoot 4 Movie tab.
  • Select Movie quality.
  • Choose MOV format.
  • Select 4K 23.98 fps.
  • Press SET to confirm.

Aperture Priority

  • Use the front dial to adjust the Aperture.
  • Select your desired settings.

Start Recording

  • Switch to video mode using the selector switch around the Start/Stop button.
  • Press the Start/Stop button to begin recording.
  • Press the button again to stop recording.

Format Card

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Setup 1 tab.
  • Select Format Card.
  • Choose the card to format.
  • Press OK to confirm.

Mic Levels

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select the Shoot 4 tab.
  • Select Sound recording.
  • Choose Sound rec. -> Manual.
  • Adjust the recording level using the rear control dial.

Focus Point

  • Use the touchscreen to position the focus box over your subject.
  • Half-press the shutter button to focus.

Mode Dial

  • Press and hold the Lock Release button.
  • Turn the Mode Dial to AV or your desired option.
