Canon 6D Video Setup Guide

Introduction

The Canon 6D is a 20.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor camera. To shoot video, switch to video mode using the Start/Stop switch at the rear of the camera.

WB Colour Temp

  • Select Menu.
  • Select Page 3 and scroll to White Balance.
  • Scroll to your desired white balance setting and select the preset that matches your lighting condition.

Grid Display

  • Switch to video mode using the Start/Stop switch.
  • Select Menu.
  • Select Page 6.
  • Scroll to Grid Display and press Set.
  • Choose between options for 3x3, 6x4, or 3x3+.

Movie Rec Size

  • Select Menu.
  • Select Page 6.
  • Scroll down to Movie Rec Size and press Set.
  • Choose your desired image size and frame rate, then press Set.

Focus Mode

  • Press the AF DRIVE button located above the top display.
  • Turn the top control dial to select AF Live.
  • Press the AF ON button to refocus.

Audio Levels

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Select Page 6.
  • Scroll to Sound Recording and press Set.
  • Select Sound Rec. -> Manual or Auto.
  • Select Rec. Level and adjust using the rear control dial.

Start Recording

  • Press the Live View button located to the left of the viewfinder.
  • Press the Start/Stop button on the rear to start or stop recording video.

Manual Focus

  • Find the manual focus switch on the lens you are using and switch it to MF.
  • Rotate the focus ring on the lens to select your focal point.

Enable Video

  • Switch to video mode using the Start/Stop switch.
  • Select Menu for multiple function settings, then press Set.
